Main Feature/Animal: The Great Migration & Big Five

The Maasai Mara is world-famous for its breathtaking wildlife spectacles, most notably the Great Migration. Every year, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross from Tanzania’s Serengeti into Kenya’s Mara, creating one of nature’s most dramatic events.

The reserve is also home to the legendary Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros. Its open plains and expansive savannas provide exceptional game-viewing opportunities, especially between July and October when the migration is at its peak.

Main Feature/Animal: Red Elephants

Tsavo National Park, one of the largest in the world, is best known for its iconic red elephants, whose striking colour comes from the park’s distinctive red volcanic soil. Beyond these majestic giants, Tsavo is home to the Big Five as well as a wide variety of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and countless bird species.

The park is divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West, each offering unique scenery, rich biodiversity, and unforgettable wildlife experiences.

Main Feature/Animal: Birdwatching & Hippos

Lake Naivasha is a serene freshwater lake surrounded by lush vegetation and renowned for its incredible birdlife, making it a favourite destination for birdwatching enthusiasts. The lake is also home to a large population of hippos, often seen lounging in the calm waters.

Visitors can enjoy relaxing boat rides, offering close-up views of diverse waterfowl, as well as wildlife such as giraffes and zebras grazing along the shoreline.

Crescent Island, located on Lake Naivasha, is a unique private sanctuary and one of the few places in Kenya where visitors can walk freely among wildlife. The island hosts a variety of animals, including giraffes, zebras, and gazelles, offering an intimate and unforgettable wildlife experience.

Its crescent-shaped peninsula provides breathtaking panoramic views over the lake, making it a perfect spot for nature walks, photography, and peaceful exploration.

Amboseli National Park is renowned for its breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, creating one of the most iconic landscapes in the continent. The park is especially famous for its extremely large herds of elephants, some of the biggest in Africa, often seen grazing peacefully with the snow-capped mountain as a dramatic backdrop.

Lake Nakuru National Park is renowned for its spectacular flocks of greater and lesser flamingos, which often blanket the lake’s shoreline in vibrant pink. The park is also a protected sanctuary for both black and white rhinos, offering visitors an excellent chance to see these endangered giants up close.

Beyond flamingos and rhinos, Lake Nakuru hosts diverse wildlife including giraffes, buffalo, lions, and numerous bird species, making it a top destination for both birdwatching and game viewing.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of Africa’s leading wildlife sanctuaries and is home to the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world making it a global centre for rhino conservation. Samburu National Reserve, located in northern Kenya’s semi-arid landscapes, is renowned for its rare and unique wildlife species found only in this region. These include the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk, collectively known as the Samburu Special Five.
